The Rhine.... Any info????

Hey All.

I have been trawling the net far and wide... a little of our situation:

Bought a wreck of a Meta Joshua in the middle of France.. doing her up to a minimum to bring her back to the UK, but the lack of water in the canals in france means we are looking at alternatives: Mainly the Rhine through to Rotterdam.

So far I have figured that we need a recent hull survey (did ultrasonics on the boat and still have the report, so that is good)... but it seems we need a Rhine Navigation Vessel Certificate or something. Problem is.. I don't know what the parameters are. The boat is empty of stuff.. and we are doing the bare minimum to bring her home. Just wondered if there was anyone with any experience? or any one that knows of cruisers who have gone for the quiet life and bought a canal boat and done it??

Thanks in advance..:0) ... the rhine in December in and uninsulated steel hull still sounds better than spending 8K on cranes and transporters...
