Best stops on the Connecticut shore of Long Island Sound

Hello all, I'm looking for suggestions of nice, boat accessable towns, parks, or just nice spots on the Connecticut shore on Long Island Sound. We're passing through and need suggestions that don't require a marina stay preferably, where we can stretch our legs.

Rowayton. There is an excellent seafood restaurant in the harbor and just to the west outside the harbor are a few small islands, One of which has a decent beach. Drop a hook and it's close enough you can swim in. Hope this helps
