Highly recommended.
They can’t haul my boat. Travelift too small.

Green Cove Springs near Jacksonville, FL is very affordable with full services available if you want.

They don’t have docks and can’t haul my boat. Their travellift is too small.

If it has power and water available, it could be a good one.

$600/mo rate. Almost twice what I pay now, but I guess I had a good deal.

Don't forget, if you're not having to haul in water and run generators for power, that saves some money. So the end result cost difference might be smaller than it looks at first.

Exactly! I definitely value power and water for getting this work done more quickly.

Cracker boy is insane. Here’s a quote for a week there.

Better take them off the “reasonable price” list.

$4000/mo. Lol. Plus electric, plus disposal fee.

Re: Focused “What Marina” Thread: Florida East Coast

Anyone have anything else?

It’s important for me to find very low cost storage, in water or out, in Florida, so I can get this boat done.

I’ve had about a million setbacks and this is my last try. If I’m paying super high rent, I’ll have nothing left to use to build the boat.

I never built this boat to keep it at a dock. I had always intended to do charters with it and live aboard because that was in my budget. However, life threw a LOT of curve balls and here I am.

Any more leads on places to cheaply keep the boat and park one vehicle (even at anchor at this point) would be greatly appreciated.

It will waste incredible amounts of time taking the dinghy to get a broken saw blade or special tool when something goes wrong, but I definitely can’t afford these dock rates for a boat this size and continue to build her.

Trying to be scrappy here. I almost gave up after the heart attack. I have re-solidified my plan. It sure would suck to not be able to carry on with it just because there are no more affordable places to keep the boat while finishing it.

What drives the need to keep the boat in Florida while you finish it?

Green cove springs isn’t a nice place but much cheaper. Slightly inland than Jacksonville.

Good question.

I need to drive to work related things in Miami, Orlando, Tampa as well as have some reasonable winter temperatures to get the work done so the resins work. Polyester specifically. 60F is about the floor for working with resin like that.

Please notice “no green cove springs” is in the thread. I have been trying to ignore the green cove springs responses, but I guess I’ll address this one.

Makes sense. The work constraint is the biggest concern in my mind. If it weren't for that, I'd say go north and just plan to work on the boat during the warm enough months, then go RV-ing for a few months to avoid boat burnout while you wait for the warm weather to return.

We hauled at Jarrett Bay in NC, $125 per day for lay days. They blocked us at 4:00 in the afternoon and by 2:00 the next afternoon we had 2 new coats of bottom paint on and a new boot top stripe. The $$$$$’s were a big motivator!
