Learning in Washington D.C.

Hey all,

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, but I'm looking to learn to sail somewhere in the Washington, D.C. area. I know from a quick google search there are a couple sail clubs in the area, but I'm curious if any more experienced people on this forum could either recommend one of these or one nearby (Annapolis, Baltimore, etc.).

Don't mind input about the learning process as well from other American captains -- better ways to learn, books to read, etc.

Again apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum and thank you for reading.

Re: Learning in Washington D.C.

Keep in mind a sailing club is just that a club where folks sail and keep their boats, not necessarily a training grounds for new sailors..

Deale Md. sailing academy…

Washing sailing marina will sometimes hold sailing courses as well.

Dc sail

Potomac sailing academy.

Sometimes you can get lucky by showing up on wed and Thursday nights at waning sailing marina with hopes of getting on a boat during the beer can races.

Re: Learning in Washington D.C.

Many clubs sell less expensive "associate" or "crew" memberships for their weeknight races. A great way to learn and make sailing world connections.
