Re: Vancouver or Victoria, BC - Which is a better homebase for good sailing condition

Hi 75 Driver,

Thanks for your input - sounds like you've had some great experiences out here. Think given my goals - although the Indian Arm is a nice convenient cruising destination from Vancouver, it won't be a big factor in my decision. Given I have lots of experience sailing dinghys/skiffs in heavy winds, and a good foundation in cruising in moderate conditions, i will be prioritizing access to stronger winds and seas to build meaningful experience for going offshore (ex. the Juan de Fuca Strait).

Based on what I've heard in here I'm leaning towards bringing the boat across to Sidney if I can get into a marina there. Thanks everyone for the input!

Thanks, Macblaze. That works.

I've been using this, which goes all over the world, but is blacked out in some places.

I prefer the clarity of the NOAA charts, but I'm too cheap to pay, for now. (Sorry, Canadian government. I'm sure I'll make up for it in taxes when I get there.)
