Re: Drop in lithium batteries

I’m planning to “drop in” two lithium batteries to replace two lead acid.
Transporter-Energy batteries , 100Ah each with built in BMS in each battery.(cost approx GBP 1000 each)
Two things need to be changed to complete the drop in.
Change theVictron Phoenix battery charger settings from lead acid to AGM.
Add a Dc-to-DC charger between the alternator and the batt. ( cost approx GBP 300).

Am I missing something as there are a few posts here saying you cannot drop them in?
Getting a little worried now.
Thanks
Tom.

I thought these were designed with your approach in mind.

I think you'll find the AGM settings to be very, very wrong for LFP.

Re: Drop in lithium batteries

If you aren't striving for much longevity

and if there is a lead batt in the alternator circuit,

you're probably fine.

Re: Drop in lithium batteries

As the OP on this I really appreciate the varied and thoughtful responses , but I must admit that it has gone much farther than I expected . With my tongue firmly in my cheek I say that lithium is the new “guns on boats or multi hull verses mono hull “ . My next question is about dc to dc chargers
