And you already know my position is that LFP should not be floated at all, so for me that setpoint is irrelevant.

When are you actually going to buy a boat ? Buy Lfp batteries for said boat? Run actual house bank with Lfp to get practical experience to post about on said Lfp bank on said boat you plan to purchase someday?

Enquiring minds want to know .

Wouldnt trust anyone trying to monetize their online presence and being ebay vendors, etc.

Thats your idea of 'lack of positive'? I think your spin could be accused of being a 'euphemism'. Sounds a bit snarky to me. But Im obviously misunderstanding you.

Making a statement about the trustworthiness of a source,

says nothing about the truth of the information they convey.

A guide as to what to investigate can be useful.

It must be just me but that is exactly how it sounds and I took it.

My mistake.

Insufficient information, is completely different from knowing it's no good.

However Renogy is definitely working to capture the mass market, targeting price, affordability rather than top-notch quality.

In some product categories that can be compensated for by excellent customer service.

For myself specifically, user-custom setpoints are a must for use with LFP, but I realize others don't care.

In the expo forum someone stated requires IGN-on wiring, so may be designed for alt charging only.

Resistance to marine conditions is also an open question.
Ah, So my understanding is that you do not have LiFePO4 on your boat (etc) so your "must" is academic. Of course please correct my memory if things have changed.

In his defense, I don't think John has ever indicated that he has the slightest practical experience in this technology, nor that he owns a boat. His evolving opinions on LFP batteries are a great example of how the Internet can help people develop useful hobbies.

Now, can we get back to a discussion involving those who actually use these batteries, as the thread title suggests? Another thread could be opened for those who wish to pretend they do, and that might also be of great interest to many.

Another vote for the last two posts.
We don't need opinions of non users who like to think they know best.

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

I have a question for those in the know.

I have a 4p4s Calb 180 battery. I've just hooked up the REC D.O.O BMS, and would like to know what the acceptable difference in resistance between groups would be.

I have the following readings:
Group:
1: 0.221 mOhm,
2: 0.222 mOhm,
3: 0.181 mOhm
4: 0.219mOhm

I can certainly check group 3 to see if there's a bad cell. But, on average, how close would you expect these groups to be? I mean, judging by the three other groups being so close, I'd guess there might be something wrong with one of the cells in group 3. But can someone let me know how close is "normal"?

Thanks.
Paul.

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

I should have mentioned, the maximum load was only 18 amps, on a 720 ah battery.

And I'm guessing that there's a "better" cell in group 3, not a bad cell.

Thanks.
Paul.
