Right in line with pricing I got yesterday. I won’t be quoting customers on the G-27 until it has CAN-bus for external communication though. This pricing is right in line with other drop-ins yet it has a legit contactor and is made by a reputable long time battery manufacturer, not some “sticker” brand...

Dropped by the LifePo booth at the St Pete Boat Show last weekend & was quoted $1,350 for the 100 AH battery.

The ReLions were $850/100 amp at the boat show">Annapolis Boat Show or $2700 for Group D 300 amp.

I'm not qualified to opine about their quality. Maine?

Wait 3 years and the price will be $500/100 amp.

Also, the LifePo batteries are rated at 3500 - 5000 cycles and can be drawn down to 0% without damage. I'm no expert so I'm guessing that this is typical for LI batteries.

The salesman at the booth said that they use the highest quality Chinese cells available & assemble the batteries themselves. According to him the only way to sell a cheaper battery is to use cheaper cells. According to him all LI cells are manufactured in China because they have cornered the market on lithium & the other precious metals necessary for construction.

Based solely on amp hour that would put the group 24 version (92 amp-hour) with canbus at around $850 each.

Not quite my $750 but still, not bad for (like Maine Sail said) a properly designed drop in LiFePO4 from a big boy manufacturer.

As for why LiFePO4 is manufactured in China, I am guessing because it is niche compared to Panasonic and Samsung cells or the cells Tesla is manufacturing at its Gigafactory. Those cells are used in tens of thousands of EVs and have a higher energy density (and danger). China is good at producing a niche market item cheaply (is nice when you don't have to worry about the environment and such).

Re: Trojan lithium drop in replacement

Well, I see at least one website has the 92AH up for sale now:

$852 each

$758 if you buy 16

$726 if you buy 32

Was hoping there would be a 8 discount.

https://www.thesolarbiz.com/trojan-t...2-8v-92ah.html

I might get one to test and then splurge on 16 of them if it seems solid. :-)

About the same $/Ah I paid for a Lithionics 24v 300 Ah.

Re: Trojan lithium drop in replacement

92AH vs 110AH, wonder why two versions so close?

Unless the 92s are the ones off the 110 line that were rated lower by QA?

No, the 92s are group 24 size and the 110 are group 27

The 92 has canbus and the 110 doesn't, making the 92 more attractive to me for monitoring a large bank.

Nevermind, the 24V 300AH battery is about $8,000 to $9000

A little more expensive per watt-hour than the trillium

If there are no bugs in the initial launch the trillium is looking really top notch right now. The safety features and IP67 rating make strapping together some bare cells with duck tape and hope seem stone age.

Re: Trojan lithium drop in replacement

OK, just dug through the trojan battery site and what got my attention on Trillium battery was the ability to charge below freezing, if at a reduced rate.

https://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/da...m_12.8-110.pdf ... and look at the 2nd page.

This is the first time I've seen a reputable US manufacturer say it's OK to charge below freezing. Ok, maybe I missed it, but my recollection is specs usually say for LifePo4 is discharge is OK about -4C and charge at 0C and above.
