Re: Windlass tripping Nav Equipment

Check out the installation of windlass circuit that I recommend. It has a heavy duty thermal circuit breaker in the positive conductor and a remote battery switch in the negative conductor. The windlass often comes with the thermal breaker.

The switch in the negative circuit is not just to disable the windlass; it also prevents galvanic corrosion issues while anchored, because the anchor buried in the seabed is at a different ground potential than a bonding plate or underwater metal that is bonded to DC negative.
(A good windlass motor has the DC negative terminal isolated from the metal housing).

The remote battery switch comes with a small switch that you can mount near the steering wheel and operate the big switch with.
