I got that, too. Since your contributions are often informative as well as humorous, it would be good to be abler to see what this offering had been.

Never gonna happen. Albertans need some place to go to for ball tournaments and back-up beer—Montana was a god send during the 80s beer strikes and we haven't forgotten...

Do the North Dakotan's dislike you that much? Price is awfully steep - even in canuck bucks - especially if it comes with your governor and legislature

North Dakota does not necessarily like Canada. Especially when we in Manitoba, have an NDP government, the governor of ND literally froths at the mouth then.

Part of the border closure protocols. Anything Covid related may include the virus, hence prohibited from transmitting.

Point Roberts is in view as I type about 11nm from my boat about 26 by car, crossing two borders. We have friends there who are having a miserable time.

Washington state has started a ferry service twice a week so they can come to "the mainland" and get some groceries. Prior to the ferry we took a 40 gallon water heater over on our boat to help a friend because the border authorities turned a truck away saying it wasn't "essential travel". Since we sailed from the US (Blaine, WA) to the US (Point Roberts, WA) there was no problem, but you should have seen us trying to get it off the stern (think Monty Python).

The main problem is that many/most of the residents use service people from BC since that's closer so as things break the "essential travel" definition becomes hazier. Our friend has his commercial fishing boat here in Blaine and the border guards (he says mostly US side) are always busting his chops implying he's using his boat as an excuse to cross the border. Uhhh, yeah!
It's his livelihood. I also understand that many, if not most of the homeowners are actually Canadian citizens with summer homes in Pt. Roberts and are unable to get to their property to check on it.

Such an odd place, part of the US because it sticks out below 49N but not physically connected in any way.

Perhaps even more odd is Minnesota's Northwest Angle

Pelagia, you're right. Hands down odder than Pt. Roberts. I love this stuff!

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

So I was driving back to northwest Montana from the southwest of Montana last night and I spotted the large electronic display board alongside the Interstate Highway operated by the Department of Transportation of Montana. It stated:

"Canada / Montana truckers, Covid vaccinations are available and free." and a weblink to provide guidance to locations.

We have more supply than demand presently. Perhaps they could set up border vaccination sites whereby Canadians bare their arms and U.S. personnel administer the shots while keeping their feet on the respective side of the 49th.

I see that the U.S. CDC has stated that fully vaccinated persons do not need to wear masks when going indoors. And some retail establishments are changing their entry requirements. I am fully vaccinated but I will continue to wear masks when entering a building so as to protect others that are not yet vaccinated. It will be quite sometime until all adults have had the opportunity and then there are the youngsters to give consideration to. Presently 12 to 15 year olds are being allowed to be administered with the Pfizer jab. And it will likely be early next year before the under 12 years old will be approved for emergency use authorization for vaccinations, so I'm intending to continue to wear masks until say, next summer in order to safeguard others. My risk of serious illness from being infected by the virus are modest given the high effectiveness of the Moderna vaccine that I had. Wearing a mask is just a simple task; I would hate to be the cause of someone else becoming ill. My cousin's daughter is a senior in high school and became ill from Covid, she has missed four months of school and it has been really a wearing ordeal for her. She is otherwise a health and vibrant young lady. Youngsters are at risk too and the effects can be serious with underlying adverse outcomes years or decades along such as damaged heart and vital organs.

Stay safe, stay healthy.

What is that saying about closing barn doors?

I hope this doesn't signal that the federal government has strong suspicions about just how endemic this Covid thing is going to turn out to be...

We may need ongoing boosters for this one but we know another pandemic will emerge at some point, could be in three years, could be in 30. We don't need another Connaught Labs situation. I hope the funding of this new company includes language saying that it cannot be sold to any non-Canadian interests.

Please don't. We have it under complete control here and don't need to upset the apple cart.
