But, go ahead and listen to the experts in the MSM such as CBC

As near as I can tell, the first article was an Un-Reviewed, Pre-Print, that underwent 4 subsequent revisions, but still never made it past review, to actual publication, a year after it's final posting

You linked to Version 1 of this Unreviewed Pre-Print, from article May 1, 2020.
Version 4 was Posted September 28, 2020.

As with all pre-prints, it reports new medical research that has yet to be evaluated and so should not be used to guide clinical practice.

Latest Pre-Print version from November 26, 2020:
“Diagnosing SARS-CoV-2 infection: the danger of over-reliance on positive test results” ~ by Andrew N. Cohen, Bruce Kessel, Michael G. Milgroom
Version 4 ➥ https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1....26.20080911v4
https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...11v4.full-text

Notwithstanding, I agree that care should be taken, to not contaminate testing samples.

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

Good catch on the revisions and not making it into publication, Gord. But you really should also have a look at the more recent second paper I linked to from the Clinical Medical Journal https://www.rcpjournals.org/content/...icine/21/1/e54

This paper clearly addresses PCR false positives as an issue related to the number of repeat cycles of amplification, a point that has been slandered as misinformation here and elsewhere.

Despite Lake Effect's spin on the results in this paper regarding the level of incidence of false positives, the fact remains that they do occur, especially when CT amplification values are >35. In this study, the true positive rate was only 16% ( 5/31).

So, if we are to believe the Royal College of Physicians, your previous assertion that "false positives do not exist" must be seen as incorrect, yes?

Spin? I quoted, without comment, from the second paper. 99.5% of the examined tests were NOT false positives. And earlier in the same article, one source ballparked false positives at 95% MAX. What's your problem with facts?

We know who's spinning. Getting dizzy yet?

Anyone remember when Elon Musk took four Covid-19 tests in the same day?

As has been stated numerous times, can we keep this about COVID-19 in Canada?

I know it's a difficult concept to grasp for some but please try.

Meanwhile here in Alberta a kind of covid exhaustion is evident everywhere with a lot of institutions failing to strictly enforce limits now that they were hyper-vigilant about in the spring...even though the numbers are actually worse.

I can't blame them but it just makes the kind tepid gov't response we have been experiencing even more ineffective. Meanwhile I am getting excited notes from AB yacht clubs about spring 2022 flotillas in BC — and that's something I am still pretty pessimistic about.

I think it goes beyond covid exhaustion. When health officials are refusing to limit attendance at hockey games, it's an entirely different "issue".

I doubt it's the health officials. I expect it's the politicians fearful of alienating their "base".

Unfortunately the health officials work for the politicians and can be told what to do and say - regardless of the science.

As per the rules, I was avoiding using the P word. But, yes... the health officials work for the other clowns and have refused to put public health first.

Its deeper than just the communication and political chaos. People (shop owners, customers, civic employees), no matter how deep their conviction that covid is a real and present danger, are just plain being slack. And it's not even ( or at least not completely) fear of the anti- reactionaries — people are just entering that inured phase where they can't maintain the necessary levels of vigilance.

But ya, in Alberta at least, it is 100% the politicians' fault with their rollercoaster policies and lack of commitment.

Speaking with my Brother in Leduc, he seems to put the blame directly on the macho mindset of the individual who chooses to ignore any precautions

Indeed! Let's hope that the damage done to poor Dr. Hinshaw's reputation by the towering intellects "in charge" will not be lasting!
