The graph is deaths per million, so yes adjusted for population. It's pretty shocking, isn't it?

USA current death rate is about 5x to 6x that of Canada.
Of course, I was so busy looking at numbers that I did not see that. Sorry for the useless question.

There are additional details in the fine print of the graph. It more or less says the death rate may not have been tallied the same for both countries.

Hmm.i just ran the numbers from scratch this morning (total reported Covid deaths divided by total population for each country) and came up with around 0.1% for Canada and 0.2% for the US - so I'm not sure where you got 5 to 6 times.

Note I indicated CURRENT death rate. So compare end points (October)

Death rate Oct 3:
Canada: 1.15/million
USA: 5.45/million

4.7x greater

Another one to set the phaser to....

(Don't get sucked in... irrelevant details etc... though the fine print does NOT imply counting differences between USA & Canada could account for large diff)

The chart’s title includes the phrase: “deaths PER MILLION PEOPLE”, in the largest font, on the page.

My friend told me that my comprehension skills were piss poor.
How dare he say I piss on the poor?!

It's our, and science's, worst nightmare.
Not Canadian so pls excuse me for posting, but wanted to write something germane to this post:

It is has been estimated that the total population of homo sapiens throughout the history of our species is between 60 and 100 Billion. It is also estimated that up until a 150 years ago, your chance of dying from a microscopic organism, meaning virus or bacteria was about 30 to 50%.

These numbers aren't exact and it really doesn't make a difference if you are at the high or low end of the estimates.

It means that your life wasn't ended as much by a saber tooth tiger or a spear as much as smallpox, the plague, measles, etc. etc.

What dramatically changed this was the realization that innoculation of smallpox and then cowpox could slow/stop smallpox and then the invention of antibiotics in the past 75 years.

We have virtually wiped out polio, smallpox, and the measles. Killers of say 1/3 of humanity.

To those who say that the Covid vaccine hasn't been researched enough, it is too new, etc., and don't understand mRNA, then go get the J&J vaccine. It is the same tech as all previous ones.

Scorpius's post is 1000% correct. We have the opportunity to wipe this virus from the earth, yet some are too dumb to realize that we are giving it the chance to mutate and create something that we won't be able to control.

I wouldn't dare do that but I did miss the largest font hiding in plain sight!

I apologise, for over-reacting, Dan. You didn't deserve that.
