We certainly have a varied situation across the country!

I'm beginning to contemplate the possibility of a fifth wave, or a sixth, or... .

1 death per million, and not specified of the other comorbidities is pretty shocking indeed. You can make graphics pretty scary by the right scale.

A BC judge has required that all jurors in a murder trial be vaccinated. Not sure that the threat of not being able to sit as a juror in such a trial is going to encourage anyone to get vaccinated though !

to add the stated reasoning behind decision, for those who don't bother to read linked articles:

Similarly, it would be a travesty to find this trial derailed and having to be brought to a premature conclusion — a mistrial —because COVID-19 infection had rendered participants, whether jurors, counsel, staff or anyone else involved, unable to continue

And the noose tightens. Although I really have no idea why vaccine passports are not required to enter liquor stores here.

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

Indeed... on a local issue

Change.org petition:
https://www.change.org/p/vail-resort...redirect=false

Whistler Blackcomb put public safety first, require a vaccine certificate to ski and ride.

Specifically concerned about cramped gondolas (when at maximum capacity, as planned for this season, only a few inches between each person in a 10-person gondola, often with windows frozen shut).

Not such a big deal on open-air chairlifts.

https://globalnews.ca/news/8237130/w...cine-petition/

Clearly an issue for all gondolas across Canada.

Remember when PEI tried to close all liquor stores at the beginning of this pandemic? They certainly quickly learned what was considered "essential"!

In true BC fashion, so are the BC cannabis stores.

We're not talking about closing them.

It seems the death rate in those stated which got only 24% is quite a bit higher than states with more vaccinations.

That looks like a high price to pay the privilage of pretending that life is normal now. (heads in the sand)

For any alcoholics, it truly is an essential service. If they stop drinking cold turkey, they could be faced with very severe medical issues.

All they need to do is get vaccinated. It's not like we're closing the stores.

Yes, definitely considered "essential." But even though I'm an alcoholic (according to the definitions anyway), I'd be fine with making it part of any provincial passport system. Same for cannabis or tobacco.

Heck, if we include coffee in that list I bet we'd see most of the "hesitancy" evaporate.
