It was unintended. Believe me. We have the choice of either having a sample drawn again. Or going the blood donation route. We have decided to do the blood donation method since my wife is Type AB- and I'm type O-. AB- is VERY rare. Mine is universal Type. They always are needing universal donors, and the plasma for AB Types. Although in this case it probably won't go to the blood bank. Likely labs will get it. And then they share with us the results of the tests on it. My wife is mostly interested in that. According the MIT Medical Study both of our blood types have been found to be statistically lowest risk for COVID infection.

Okay time to shake things up and get back to a cruising subject with some Covid theme music.

Yes, and I'm not in favour of returning to that kind of a past. We've made such gains since then in human rights and personal dignity. I fear that this pandemic will be the excuse power uses to gain more power.

BTW, I sailed past and anchored quite close to Grosse Ile on my journey down the St. Lawrence. It's a national historic site and museum now, but even as we sailed past I believe I could hear the horrific echos of the past.

Interesting. The study cited here indicates an effect, although not nearly as cut & dry. And it is a long way from your achievement of "going on 20 years since either me or my wife has even had a common cold." That is still super-human.

You do recognize that left leaning in US terms usually means right leaning in Canada, right? LOL

Unbiased enough to make this call, yeah.

Not really. It's more common than one would think. Try marrying a RN that's a health and fitness nut and living with her for 40 years. There's likely many factors that affect it, even genetics. But lifestyle probably also plays a role.

It's like the debate over why married men live longer than unmarried. It's not a debate. It's a fact with no real scientific reason. Although in this day and age of various types and stages of cohabitation, maybe it's less clear.

It's been studied with still no real conclusions as to why. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a real phenomenon.

Some Canadian cross-border truckers give their opinion on whether the Canada/US should be opened soon. (spoiler alert: no)

So like our friends in Canada that want to come to the US to get to their boat. Prior to the border crossing there is a medical checkpoint where they get tested. If they are clean, they are good to go. If they test positive, all the normal stuff on that side of the border applies for people with positive test.

The actual lab process does not take very long. The antigen test takes less than 30 minutes in the lab. The paperwork, processing and record keeping takes longer than the actual test.

For pete's sake, they been doing this with animals shipped across country borders for years. There are infectious diseases in animals that are way more contagious than Corona in humans, that will outright mass kill various animal species if they come in contact with it. It has worked successfully for that for at least 40 years now.

Yes it does and they kill entire farms worth of animals if they detect these illnesses in any of the stock. Yeap that’ll work with people too.

Seriously?

Are you kidding Stu? They're so wrapped up in what's going on in the slum holes down south they could care less.

Seriously?
I wasn't talking about the methods used to control an infection when it happens. I was talking about the testing methods and requirements to transport them to ensure they're "clean". Bio-safety for animals transported across borders has historically been many, many times more stringent than it is for humans in today's world of global travel.

Re: CANADIAN COVID-19 NEWS

Don't try sailing to Canada this year:
Sailors get police escort out of Makkovik after surprise landing

Makkovik is about mid-Labrador. I infer from the story the crew of the "38' to 40' sailboat" declared some sort of emergency as they approached from Greenland. I'm skeptical of this coincidence, and apparently so are the authorities.
