Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

We are so snowed under by statistics, constantly changing paradigms and downright obfuscation that sometimes I wonder if we actually have our eye on the ball anymore.

What I really want to know is are we safe? Not safe from getting sick, or safe from contracting what is going to be a never-ending variant of Covid, but safe from hospitalization and/or death. Most of us have been so caught up in the stupidity arising from this outbreak that telling the forest from the trees has been come impossible without a lot of leg work (which, kudos to you all, a lot of you seem to be capable of doing).

It would be nice if we could go back to late 2019 and examine where we are now without all the baggage. My gut feeling is we are inches away from "safety" (if we were smart enough to get vaccinated) and that for a majority of us Covid is no longer the spectre it has been for the last many months. And I really really want to go see my boat.

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

Other than the fact that, due to our flooding a couple of weeks ago, there are no roads open to the coast for non-essential travel, what is stopping you from getting to your boat?

Where is she?

Nanaimo. And it's mostly a combination of fear, respect and abysmal timing. We are planning on May June if it doesn't all go sideways again.

I'll be in Nanaimo on Tuesday. Can I have a look for you? Where is she? Name?

Wow thanks for the offer...but she's at Stones and NYCSS is looking after her. In fact thanks to them I have a new dinghy and windlass that I haven't even seen yet But I really appreciate the thought— I have no idea what we would have done if we had no caretaker.

Definitely the most important question. I'm hopeful, but prepared for the worst. Are you planning to be back?

Canada to accept South Africa COVID-19 tests, drop contentious 3rd-country rule

Canada will start recognizing molecular COVID-19 tests conducted at an accredited lab in South Africa for residents returning home, dropping a heavily criticized travel restriction introduced to prevent the spread of the omicron variant.
Canada has now dropped the need to obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 PCR test from a third country, according to a travel advisory issued on Saturday.
There is no change to Canada's ban on all foreign travellers from 10 African countries.

COVID-19 infections are on the rise and omicron could quadruple daily case counts, federal modelling says

New modelling released today by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) suggests the number of COVID-19 cases could increase sharply in the coming weeks as the country grapples with another wave of delta infections and the highly transmissible omicron variant.
he national "rT" — the metric that tracks the average number of people one infected person subsequently will infect — is now over one. That means the pandemic is again in growth mode.

Pointing to early findings from South Africa, where omicron was first identified and case counts have skyrocketed, PHAC said cases could quadruple to 12,000 a day in January if "omicron successfully establishes" and the current levels of transmission are maintained.

Omicron's "greater transmissibility" and the potential for "reduced protection from prior infection/vaccination" could drive this resurgence, PHAC said. The effectiveness of the current slate of COVID-19 vaccines against omicron is still under review.

We he house sale and s on e new medical issues have me grounded here in Philadelphia for another 2 months.
Then head South.
Haul in Puerto Del Rey, PR in June.
Then to Newfoundland.

That is “THE PLAN”.
But I have not had a plan hold for 2 years so there is that.

We have been making a whole lot of “lemon ade”, our time has been out to good use. But We are not getting any younger and seriously want to get back to our regular retirement program.

I suspect many people feel the same. Covid will be assimilated, and more or less ignored if not forgotten.

G&M: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/cana...d-people-dont/

Poll suggests 40 per cent of Canadians know unvaccinated people, don’t discuss issue

"About 40 per cent of Canadians know a family member or friend who is not vaccinated against COVID-19, and most don’t raise the issue with them, a poll carried out this month suggests."

Sounds like a good "plan." We are planning/hoping/expecting to be back in Lewisporte by early June. But I'm prepared for another "making of lemonade" season. Without access to our boat we've turned to our little motorcycles these last two summers. So I can't complain too much.

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

To my friends in Canada, here a preprint study from Ontario vaccination side effects related to mRNA vaccines and intervalls specifically to Myocarditis / Pericarditis.

Stay safe.

Here is a Video about the findings if you prefer not to read and understand the medical study content yourself

Yes, another study which clearly supports the use of mRNA Covid-19 vaccines.
