Egad lad...

No, it's not about the money, it's about a small percentage of Canadians occupying a disproportionately large number of ICU beds, resulting in thousands of cancelled and/or delayed procedures and surgeries.

There were overweight people before the pandemic and Canadian hospitals weren't having to cancel thousands of procedures and surgeries. A completely irrelevant point. The system functioned normally...in a Canadian context.

No, it's not about the money...see first paragraph.

Please, might I ask, that you give these answers to your questions some consideration before you keep going back to the same pointless points?

Thanks

Good point.

Covid deaths in USA: 895,000

Covid deaths in Canada: 33,000

(Numbers as of 12:00 Pacific)

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

USA has roughly 10 times Canada's population, so has over double the death rate of Canada.

You'd think LGS3 would devote more energy towards cleaning up his own backyard before barking over the fence to tell us how to clean ours.

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

From the CBC last evening:

"B.C. health officials reported 985 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Tuesday, including 144 in intensive care, as the province recorded one more death from the disease and 1,446 new cases.

"The new numbers represent a decrease of two in the overall number of patients in hospital, but 15 more patients in the ICU within the last 24 hours.

"Overall hospitalizations, which typically lag behind spikes and dips in new cases, are up by 15 per cent from last Tuesday, when 854 people were in hospital with the disease.

"The number of patients in intensive care is up by about 28 per cent from 112 a week ago and up by 102 per cent from a month ago when 71 people were in the ICU."

Not good!

From the article cited by StuJ: "...my parents began listening to dangerous teachings from extremist faith leaders who preached that only belief could heal. If it wasn't working, apparently you just weren't believing hard enough. "

Whence come these bizarre notions? Doesn't anybody read Sinclair Lewis anymore? Isn't it high time that Elmer Gantry be made mandatory reading in, say, Grade X on both sides of the 49th?

I don't recall you ever saying that you were Canadian - only that you lived in upstate New York.

Wow, take a day off and you miss 2 pages of beer and bunch of other stuff.

Unlike you boozers, Covid has reduced my beer consumption to almost zero... I think maybe two or three in the past 2 years.

Here is the real tragedy. This baby has been in my fridge since fall 2019.

Has it occurred to you that, for example, sometime in the 1980s mental health became an issue in certain parts of North America? Mental health clinics and homes were shuttered. Where did those people, and those who followed them through in many cases no fault of their own go?

I designed a few of those for the American Government (armed forces - the folks who probably needed and still need it). They are all shuttered and abandoned. Sad.

This has nothing to do with socialized medicine. It is a health issue. Community stuff...

In the US they have social security and we have some parallel programs here. All the idiots screaming "socialism" wouldn't know what to do without their social security monthly income, that they themselves paid into. The ignorance is frightening.

The covidiots who "get the plague" go to the same hospital they were out in front of picketing the week before. Sheez...

They should just make 'em all watch the damn movie, at least four times a week. They probably can't read, even though they're out there doing their own research.

EXTRA BONUS: that last sentence shows all idiots how to use the correct application of there, their, they're. I think I'll keep it, because in the last month I have read more BS misapplications of those three words than in the last ten years and it ain't autocorrect!!!

The connection to covid is that many people are re-evaluating their supplies for possible lock down situations. Just remember:

Beer has food value.
Food does not have Beer value!

I agree with you completely. I find it hard to take anyone seriously when their spelling, word usage, grammar, and/or sentence structures are atrocious.

Love it! I vote we make you an Honourary Canadian (note the "u"). If it weren't for a drunken evening in 1825 you'd be Canadian!

Re: Canadian COVID-19 News

You'd better stick with the beer discussion boys because your Vaccine Cult echo chamber here is about to crumble. An opinion piece published last week in the Globe and Mail has just derailed everything all of you have been viciously fighting for... the suppression of dissenting information, mandates, denial of early treatments and their discussion, blaming the unvaccinated for the spread of covid and, the big one, that vaccinating everybody will get us out of this mess...

Whether the author is correct or not is of no matter. What is of immense importance is that it was published in a Canadian national daily. The narrative is being changed from top down, gentlemen, and the G&M is front running it. Brace yourselves, your opinions are about to become marginalized.

Vaccines are a tool, not a silver bullet. If we’d allowed more scientific debate, we would have realized this earlier
