Ahh, good luck finding a bareboat charter company still in operation in 2025, if you do book don’t put down a deposit 🤣🤣🤣

Glad to hear. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll be barred from Newfoundland for another season. Maybe I'll have to look at chartering on the west coast, just so I don't completely forget how to sail.

Nah. The bar owners in St Johns won't stand for another restricted summer.

Hope you're right. If not, I may pull some family strings, including some bar owners. I figure I'm related to 1/2 the island's population, given me ol' fadder beckons from NL.

The West Coast of Canada is the most spectacular place I have sailed.

I've had the pleasure of spending a week sailing a small part of the region. It is truly wonderful. And given the weather, I would happily relocate there. In fact, I've always had it in my mind that we will wash up on your shores eventually.

That said, have you sailed Newfoundland? I must say, on the spectacular-scale, it's pretty hard to beat The Rock.

Manitoba may use ice rinks as COVID-19 wards & morgues as hospitals run out of space
Manitoba's continued surge in COVID-19 cases has left the premier frustrated and doctors pleading with the public to follow public health directives.
And with hospitals running out of space, health officials are considering turning hockey rinks into COVID-19 wards and morgues.

Re: CANADIAN COVID-19 NEWS

COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker
There are currently 57 Vaccines, undergoing 136 Trials, in 37 Countries.
Of which, there are 12 vaccines, for COVID-19, in conventional Phase 3 trials.
The interim results, for three of these, are promising.
On Nov. 9, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that their trial (RNA) shows more than 90 per cent effectiveness in preventing COVID-19.
Two days later, Russia announced that its vaccine, SputnikV (Non Replicating Viral Vector), is 92 per cent effective at preventing infection.
And Moderna announced Nov. 16, that its vaccine (RNA) is 94.5 per cent effective.
Although the relevant data have not yet been released for public review, there is reason to be hopeful that safe and effective vaccines are well on their way.
Canada has pre-ordered 20 million doses of both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, with options to buy more.

I'm seriously p1ssed that they've waited this long to even contemplate setting up extra bed space or separate treatment centres. A strong second wave was a given. Didn't they see any of the news video from Lombardy, when that region of Italy was overwhelmed?

Conservative/Republican style government, nuff said. Economy is more important than a few old timers.

You are not anywhere as near as pissed as I, and my friends, all over 64.
Best wishes and prayers

Not sure if this got posted here yet:
Flu cases in Canada 'exceptionally low' so far, public health says

No surprise really. I bet all infectious diseases are lower now. I wonder if there will be a surge of influenza and cold cases when (if) we get to other side of this pandemic and people go back to normal life.

... or maybe all this mask wearing and physical distancing is the new normal.
