BC has also increased its restrictions but not to the Ontario level - although case counts in BC are similar imo if not higher;

Re: CANADIAN COVID-19 NEWS

“Most Canadians could be vaccinated by end of 2021, says federal public health officer”

“... The federal government has agreements with Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech and Novavax and Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. It also has deals with Sanofi/GSK, AstraZeneca and Medicago.
Canada will receive 20 to 76 million doses of each vaccine should they make it through clinical trials and be approved by Health Canada...
... Another factor for governments to consider is how to divide vaccine doses between provinces — an issue sources say was discussed during last week's phone call between the prime minister and the premiers.
During that call, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs suggested governments ration the initial vaccine doses as they did with personal protective equipment in the early days of the pandemic. Higgs argued that provinces should only ask for the doses they need to protect their most vulnerable populations, allowing the rest to go to hot zones across the country ...”

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), an independent body that advises the Public Health Agency of Canada, recently published "preliminary guidance" on how to prioritize immunization against COVID-19 once a vaccine is approved.

According to NACI, the first vaccines should go to:

People at high risk of death or severe illness from COVID-19 (including seniors and people who have high-risk health conditions).
People who are most likely to transmit COVID-19 to those at high risk (this could include health-care workers, support workers or people living with those at high risk).
Workers essential to maintaining the COVID-19 response or providing frontline care for COVID-19 patients.
People "contributing to the maintenance of other essential services for the functioning of society." These workers still need to be defined in discussions between the federal, provincial and territorial governments, NACI said, but could include police, firefighters or grocery store staff.
People living or working in conditions that put them at higher risk of infection, or where infection could have "disproportionate consequences, including Indigenous communities."

Re: CANADIAN COVID-19 NEWS

This wear a damned mask issue is a over a hundred years old. Apparently the Toronto Star recently published a copy of the rail commuters from California in 1918.

Stay safe all you Canadians until this pandemic comes under control and we can reopen the borders. Miss all the Canadian Snowbirders passing through The Last Best Place / Montańa.

Best wishes,

Dan

Keep that mask on! I'll be there soon (I hope ).

We're really just passing through. We left our car in Thunder Bay back in the summer when we swapped it for the motorcycles. We now have get back to pick up the little car so we can get down to Ottawa for the winter.

Hope Westjet keeps flying. I'd hate to get stranded in Toronto .

Well, I got through 1/2 and he'd already lied a few times, so I know it's not worth any more time.

Thanks for sharing the polemic though. Maybe keep this kind of stuff for the other Covid threads. We're trying to keep this one useful.

Apropos of nothing I thought the "pop" or "burst" metaphor was pretty misleading. I initially thought that the bubble was gone rather than just contracting to smaller bubbles

Almost got excited for you for a minute there Mike...

New restrictions coming to Alberta tomorrow. The "optimists" think there will be a lockdown but I really doubt it.
