French overseas departments in the Caribbean are going to apply the same measures as mainland France, as to closing of non-essential businesses, restaurants etc., starting midnight Sunday March 15.

Think of a plane load coming in and doing a 14 day self isolation.
First thing they do is walk out of airport and jump in a taxi, bus or train.
What about the driver of taxis, passengers on bus and trains, do they get self isolation as well?

Beijing just announced it will send all international arrivals to a 14 day quarantine facility effective today Monday, no more going home for self isolation. All will be paid for by government.

Effective midnight tomorrow Panama is implementing many strong internal restrictions and closing its borders to all but citizens/legal residents who will be subject to a 14 day home quaranteen.

One of the internal measures is "circles of isolation"...basically, stay in your 'hood and dont travel in-country.

We are a family of 4 living on a small boat for a year. We are in Culebra and had planned passage to Bahamas. Noonsite is advising cruisers in general not to leave current port because next one might not accept us.

Even with all the hassles and constant change on next port availibility, you still have to plan for the upcoming hurricane season. A classic being between a rock and a hard place.

In France, more than half of coronavirus patients in intensive care are under 60, suggesting it's not just the elderly at risk

Half of the 300 coronavirus patients in intensive care in France are under 60, the country's top health official, Jerome Salomon, said over the weekend.

The World Health Organization has suggested that the coronavirus most seriously affects older people.

This assumption appears to have held true in Italy and has influenced governments' health advice, including in the US and the UK.

Salomon also said France was struggling to contain the outbreak as people ignore the country's recommendations to avoid gathering in public places.

France is one of the worst-hit countries in Europe, with more than 5,000 cases as of Monday.

Spain is closing its land borders

Only Spanish citizens, legal residents, diplomats and people with documented proof of force majeure or other necessities would be able to cross the land border into the country

Canada is closing its borders to non-citizens and non-residents, restricting international arrivals to four airports and requiring airlines to bar passengers who present with symptoms of the coronavirus from boarding.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the wide-sweeping restrictions at a press conference on Monday afternoon.

Americans are currently exempt from the travel ban. The restrictions will not apply to commerce or trade.

International arrivals from the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean will be restricted to Canada’s four busiest airports; Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport, Calgary International and Vancouver International Airport.

Trudeau also urged Canadians who are currently abroad to return.

The European Union will close its borders to all non-essential travel as it attempts to contain the ongoing spread of the coronavirus on the continent.

The temporary restrictions would be in place "for an initial period of 30 days," and could be prolonged, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Monday.
Family members of European nationals, essential staff, such as doctors and nurses, and people transporting goods to the EU will be exempted from the upcoming measures.
"The less travel, the more we can contain the virus," von der Leyen said during a press conference, which followed a video conference between G7 leaders.
She appeared confident that the European Council will sign off on the restriction in a Tuesday vote.
The announcement comes as Spain went under partial lockdown in an attempt to stem the worst coronavirus outbreak in Europe after Italy.

What is France doing?

In a televised evening address, President Macron ordered people to stay at home and only go out for essential duties. He said the previous measures, including the closing of schools, cafes and non-essential shops, had proved insufficient.

"Even while medics were warning about the gravity of the situation, we saw people get together in the parks, busy markets and restaurants and bars that did not respect the order to close," he said in the 20-minute address.

The restrictions will be in place for at least 15 days, Mr Macron added, vowing to punish any infringement. He also said the army would be used to help transport the sick to hospital and that the second round of local elections due this weekend was being postponed.
