Missouri Sues Televangelist/Rapist/Fraudster Jim Bakker For Selling Fake Coronavirus Cure
Televangelist (rapist & fraudster) Jim Bakker held up a blue and silver bottle, gazing intently at the label, as he questioned the woman sitting next to him. "This influenza that is now circling the globe," Bakker said on the Feb. 12 broadcast of The Jim Bakker Show, "you're saying that Silver Solution would be effective."
His guest, the so-called "natural health expert" Sherrill Sellman, falsely implied that the liquid would likely be effective.
Silver Solution "has been proven by the government that it has the ability to kill every pathogen it has ever been tested on, including SARS and HIV," Sellman continued. Four 4-ounce bottles could be yours, a message on the screen said, for just $80.
Selling a fake "treatment" for the COVID-19 disease violates state and federal law. On Tuesday, the state of Missouri filed a lawsuit against Bakker and his production company to stop them from advertising or selling Silver Solution and related products as treatments for the coronavirus.

In addition to The Jim Bakker Show, the FDA sent warnings on Monday to six other companies that were selling colloidal silver, teas, tinctures or essential oils as treatments for the coronavirus
The FDA and FTC jointly issued warning letters to Vital Silver, Quinessence Aromatherapy Ltd., Xephyr, LLC doing business as N-Ergetics, GuruNanda, LLC, Vivify Holistic Clinic, Herbal Amy LLC, and The Jim Bakker Show. The products cited in these warning letters are teas, essential oils, tinctures and colloidal silver. The FDA has previously warned that colloidal silver is not safe or effective for treating any disease or condition.

re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

G7 leaders on Friday discussed the search for a home coronavirus antibody test that could allow an early exit from the international COVID-19 lockdown.

The tests are designed to detect whether somebody has ever contracted the coronavirus.

If successful, such tests could allow the roll-out of so-called "immunity passports" allowing people to leave the coronavirus lockdown early.

However, the UK's Health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed that no leading industrial nation has yet identified a coronavirus antibody test which is accurate enough for use.

"On the G7 call earlier it was clear that no G7 country has found a home antibody test that works," Hancock said.

However, none of the tests that have been examined by UK scientists have been effective enough to roll out to the general population.
"Any test in medicine is never 100% accurate," the UK's Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam told the press conference.
"[But] the wrong antibody test that is not accurate is going to say to some people 'you have antibodies when you don't' and to another group 'you don't have antibodies' when they do."
Spain was recently forced to return tens of thousands of rapid coronavirus tests from a Chinese company after they were found to be accurate just 30% of the time.

Some tests have demonstrated false positives, detecting antibodies to much more common coronaviruses.

Scientists also remain unsure about the extent to which a past infection could prevent reinfection and how long an immunity would remain.

Actually it is worse, the US now has 7077 deaths and that is more than 1000 more in the last 9 hours. Are we going to have 2000 in 24 hours?
273,880cases.

On the bright side the curve is flattening here in Washington State and this is where it all started in the US.

Important stuff, and I hope they get there.

My only question is how to implement "immunity passports" with unsupervised home test-kits. There would be MANY employment-related reasons why someone would want to fake being immune. To my mind, some sort of registry and supervised testing is required.

I find it quite interesting that so many developed countries have focussed on projections and statistics to somehow micromanage this invisible threat whereas less developed countries have imposed rigid unambiguous rules based on a common sense "don't take any chances" type of mindset.

Here in Subic, the total lockdown and rules came fast and full.

For example:

No debate on who should cover their face.... Everyone must.
One Quarantine pass delivered to each household, allowing One person to go shopping.
24/7 lockdown and a nigh time curfew imposed.

So far, one confirmed COVED-19 patient in local hospital, despite growing numbers in the rest of the Philippines.

Many complain these rules are too Draconian and infringe upon our human rights, but to me, it seems like a common sense approach to an enemy from whom we have no other defense.

Maybe I've been binge watching too much on Spaghetti Westerns during this lockdown

re: corona virus alerts - Latest cruising Information for vessels/locations/rules

Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said that the novel coronavirus “might keep coming back” year after year. Speaking to the White House press corps on Wednesday, he said that the ultimate hope is a vaccine. That, Fauci added, may not be ready for a year to a year and a half, although other experts say even that timeline is optimistic.

“I was on the weekly conference call with the WHO-sponsored group of all the health leaders in the world who are dealing with this, and we all came to the agreement that we may have cycling with another season,” Fauci told the press conference. “We’ll be much better prepared. We’ll likely have interventions, but the ultimate game changer in this will be a vaccine.”

“If we get to the part of the curve where it goes down to essentially no new cases, no deaths for a period of time, I think it makes sense that you have to relax social distancing,” he added. “The one thing we hope to have in place, and I believe we will have in place, is a much more robust system to be able to identify someone who is infected, isolate them, and then do contact tracing.”

Earlier this week, Fauci said the White House coronavirus task force is giving “serious consideration” to broadening existing guidance on face masks, but said first priority must be given to health-care workers who are currently experiencing a shortage of masks. Currently, the Centers for Disease for Control and Prevention does not recommend that the public wear masks.

“The idea of getting a much more broad, community-wide use of masks outside of the health-care setting is under very active discussion at the task force,” Fauci, one of the country’s top infectious disease experts, told CNN “The CDC group is looking at that very carefully.” But he said health-care workers need them and people must not take away from their supply.

Previous research has concluded that face masks help reduce contagion by reducing the amount of droplets sprayed into the air during flu season; a Japanese-based study says this works when paired with vaccination, not an option in this case. This study says N95 medical-grade masks do help filter viruses that are larger than 0.1 micrometers. The coronavirus is 0.125 micrometers.

Indeed relying on a person to be honest about their test result would seem not viable. Maybe they could develop a drive thru type of system, or a neighborhood testing program, where you go out to the curb, they administer the test and give you a pass if you test appropriate. Tatoo on the forehead.

Maybe you carry the test result with you, like a pregnancy test stick.

Today there are 278,537 cases in the US with 7163 deaths. I wonder if the deaths are not current because we had over 7000 by yesterday afternoon. Some have accused the governor of New York as being hysterical but an interesting data point is that NYC ranks 7th among countries for total deaths. The rate of new cases and the death rate in the US continues to decrease.

Bill Gates is funding new factories for 7 potential coronavirus vaccines, even though it will waste billions of dollars.

The Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates told "The Daily Show" on Thursday that his foundation was funding the construction of factories for seven coronavirus vaccine candidates.

Gates said the foundation would end up picking only one or two of the seven, meaning billions of dollars spent on manufacturing would be abandoned.

He said that in a situation where the world faces the loss of trillions of dollars to the economy, wasting a few billion to help is worth it.

Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Bill Gates is plugging money into building factories for seven promising coronavirus vaccine candidates, even though it will mean wasting billions of dollars.

On Thursday's episode of "The Daily Show," the Microsoft billionaire told the host Trevor Noah that his philanthropic organization, the Gates Foundation, could mobilize faster than governments to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

"Because our foundation has such deep expertise in infectious diseases, we've thought about the epidemic, we did fund some things to be more prepared, like a vaccine effort," Gates said. "Our early money can accelerate things."

Gates said he was picking the top seven vaccine candidates and building manufacturing capacity for them. "Even though we'll end up picking at most two of them, we're going to fund factories for all seven, just so that we don't waste time in serially saying, 'OK, which vaccine works?' and then building the factory," he said.

Gates said that simultaneously testing and building manufacturing capacity is essential to the quick development of a vaccine, which Gates thinks could take about 18 months.

In a Washington Post op-ed article published earlier this week, Gates said some of the top candidates required unique equipment.

"It'll be a few billion dollars we'll waste on manufacturing for the constructs that don't get picked because something else is better," Gates said in the clip. "But a few billion in this, the situation we're in, where there's trillions of dollars ... being lost economically, it is worth it."

The Gates Foundation "can get that bootstrapped and get it going and save months, because every month counts," he added.

There is an overnite lag in the the numbers because it now shows the US has had 300,915 cases and 8162 deaths. That is 2000 more deaths than yesterday morning.

Now leaders in Leon County, Florida, are giving people an interesting visual to help them maintain the proper distance from others.

First the bad news:

A temporary ban on non-essential activities in Mexico due to the coronavirus pandemic is to put a stop to beer exports from the country.

Corona beer owner Grupo Modelo said on Thursday it would be pausing production of the beer and other brands exported to 180 countries after its business activities were declared non-essential under the government order aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.

Mexico this week declared a health emergency and ordered the suspension of non-essential activities

Now some good news:

Mexican tequila makers have sought to dispel concerns that their exports to the United States will dry up, after two large brewers in the country suspended production to comply with government rules put in place due to the new coronavirus.

"Neither in the United States nor in Canada are there restrictions on manufacturing and selling alcoholic beverages," the president of the Mexican tequila chamber, Rodolfo Gonzalez, said in an interview.

This week, Heineken and Grupo Modelo both said they would halt production in Mexico after the government declared a health emergency and ordered suspension of non-essential economic activity.

It caused a storm on social media and large lines in some local supermarkets as Mexicans sought to stock up on beer.

Mexican tequila makers, however, interpret the newly imposed rules differently.

Gonzalez said the sector was still expecting growth rates of between 4% and 5% for this year - even as the new coronavirus is denting sales to bars, restaurants and hotels worldwide.

The United States and Canada are the largest export markets for the emblematic Mexican alcoholic beverage, with the chamber reporting about $2 billion in sales revenues across 118 countries every year.

Gonzalez said the labor-intensive harvest of the prized agave plant would continue because agricultural production is considered an essential economic activity, even if the production of alcoholic beverages is not.

Gonzalez said stopping crop production would have severe consequences for tequila makers.

"We have to finish planting all the agave for the 2020 cycle by next month," Gonzalez added. "If we were to suspend our activities it would cause irreversible damage."
