Re: Surviving Covid-19

Kids with Long-COVID can Develop Severe Symptoms
COVID-19 symptoms can start out mild, but then become chronic, and debilitating.

A study [1], published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, in August, tracked more than 1,700 children in the U.K., who tested positive for COVID-19. Nearly two per cent had symptoms that lasted more than 56 days.
Though that may sound like a small percentage, it should be noted, that if a lot of children are infected, a large number of them could be affected by long-COVID.
Compounding the difficulty, in seeking diagnosis, and support for children, is the narrative, that was established at the start of the pandemic. The focus was on the elderly, and the mortality rates, and everybody else, they seemed to think [wrongly] that, if you had COVID, then you would recover, and that these were mild cases, and that children were rarely affected.

[1] “Illness duration and symptom profile in symptomatic UK school-aged children tested for SARS-CoV-2" ~ by Erika Molteni, PhD et al
“... Interpretation
Although COVID-19 in children is usually of short duration with low symptom burden, some children with COVID-19 experience prolonged illness duration. Reassuringly, symptom burden in these children did not increase with time, and most recovered by day 56. Some children who tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 also had persistent and burdensome illness. A holistic approach for all children with persistent illness during the pandemic is appropriate ...”

Re: Surviving Covid-19

I agree "boatman61" and also another thread hijacked by the covidpolice.
The OP wanted to know if his isolation and his comfort food was the same as a sailors on a long passage.
I would have to say no and somewhat yes. First, I never thought of a long passage as being in isolation as it's something you choose to do and plan for accordingly. But there were food and goodies that made the voyage more enjoyable for me. Those snacks or food are much more enjoyable on a long passage than they would be if you were located on land next to all the conveniences. Everyone will have a different take on what they like but for me it was some dark chocolate, almonds and oat and honey breakfast bars for those late night watches.
