Those tests are probably bonzer for domestic use.

Good luck having them accepted when crossing international borders.

When I went to NZ in July they wanted the full $150 test... not even the government drive in test site result was accepted.

Speaking of which- what happened to the bloke in the OP and his medical issues? Did I miss that?

It wasn't an urgency, I believe they were heading for Spain.

It's my understanding that it wasn't a life or death level of urgency.

If it had been I doubt they would have denied him entry, then again who knows? He was clearly viewed as a biohazard regardless of his medical condition.

Be careful with that one. Further research will reveal that the total estimated deaths were 675,000 in the US from Spanish Flu. That part is probably accurate. The population in the US in 1918 when the spanish flu was at its height was approximately 103 million.

That would put the per capita death rate in a far higher category for the Spanish Flu over current covid numbers with a 2019 population estimate of 238 million.

I swear they will not stop until no one can travel, do trade, work etc without a medical ID. It's crazy. Bat **** crazy.
100% spot on.

Yes, someone else brought this up on page 2 maybe. My comment is that I'm not that concerned about the statistics of the deaths due to our current societies reaction obviously curtailed many deaths.

The point being that 675,000 lives is equal to 675,000 lives. To act as if nothing unusual is going on right now seems wrong headed.

I have never seen hospitals overrun with patients. This is happening in multiple states before. We have taken many measures that seem crazy and yet our hospitals are still overrun in some areas.

Finally I didn't really want to comment anymore on this thread, but since I'm here now I want to mention this idea.

When leaving for a multi day voyage getting a high quality test before departure would demonstrate good faith effort of complying with the arrival ports unrealistic testing timeline.

This would demonstrate one's health status plus allow time for the gestation period over the voyage duration. This seems like a reasonable idea but many seem to rail against simple ideas.

Re: Warning about Ireland

This thread seems to be wandering off course.

So back to discussing life on yachts in the Emerald Isles please folks.

Should you wish to discuss the terrible American death toll from the Spanish Flu a century ago, well I am sure you can find a suitable forum for that, just not on CF.

And what comfort do you draw from that? The Spanish Flu was the worst pandemic in 100 years; a major global calamity. That COVID is somewhat less horrible than that is comforting -- how?

Re: Warning about Ireland

The thread has run its useful course, time to move on to anchors or guns on boats, or even Irish guns on boats
