Algeria

Winter visits to the North African coast of the Med are very popular, and there is a lot of commentary on Morocco and Tunisia. But what about Algeria? Does anyone have any current experience of Cruising or visiting Algeria?

Re: Algeria

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Soundwayve.

From Noonsite:
"With very few exceptions, the ports are crowded and polluted, which is the main reason why cruising yachts very seldom go out of their way to stop in Algeria. The one notable exception is Sidi Fredj, west of the capital Algiers, where a tourist development surrounds the harbour, part of which has been converted into a marina..."

Re: Algeria

A British friend of mine, located in Gibraltar, had set his eyes on sailing with his boat to Algeria this summer - it took him two months and numerous visits to the closest Algerian embassy / consulate until he obtain his visa and permission to sail there with his boat.
I guess they are not really "open for business" yet!
