Balearics warning...Vodafone Possible Scam.

We entered the Balearics at Minorca at Mahon and like many others we first wanted to get telephone and Internet time. We Went to the Vodafone dealer near the ferry landing and the info site and were helped by Rosa. Within one hour of using a Visa card with her (ATM s are scarce near there) we had $1000 in fraudulent charges on our card. We hadn't used it in about 6 weeks and it had never happened before. There was no way anyone else had access to our info. Our banker immediately called us and we are protected but something fishy is going on.

The phone time was fine but the sim cards for the iPad and the modem stick never did work as promised. The modem stick actually caused the computer to crash after about a week and by then we were to far along to go back. She offered no help and was very difficult to contact. Vodafone customer service told us that our sim card was registered to someone else and that Rosa had sold us some program that they never heard of.

We have had products from all over and never had such unsatisfactory service. We just wanted to warn other cruisers coming west in the Med.
