I also posted photos of most of the harbours, so this may be a further useful source of information if you haven't already seen it.

As for Hydra, see the photo below, which was taken in early May. In July and August yachts are often banked three deep on both sides of the harbour! Even in May we had our anchor chain laid across twice in three days so you can imagine the chaos in high season...

Thank you Gordon will definitely heck the CruisersWiki that’s really useful info man!!!!

I wonder if I should try to avoid crossing chains or just lean how to undo the mess ( maybe both... )

Cheers and happy 2018!!!!

Ed, you will probably need to equip yourself with something like the item below if you haven't already got one.

Re: Best time for Greece - Saronic Gulf

While the hook is fine, you may free yourself with just a piece of rope.
Take a strong line and tie one end to a strong point on the pulpit. Now raise your anchor until the 'offending' chain is within reach. Pass your rope beneath this chain, bring the rope up and tie it to the pulpit as well. Now you can drop your anchor, free it from the chain, move it aside a little (watch your hands! or use a biathook) and raise it all the way up. Last step - slip the rope and let your neighbour's chain fall back into the water.

That's what we do, no need for extra bits of equipment. Make sure you have a knife handy in case you need to cut the rope in a hurry
