Re: Brittany Coast and Normandy

Well we did spend a lot of time against the current just outside Camaret., and we did get there when it was Htide.
and then we went over to Guernsey and nexst day to Cherbourg.
we had better luck with the current as we got it with us, this time, so a fast ride to Cherbourg did se SOG 13 knots.
------
I did go and se "Erik50" boat, and also found an old frends boat, just on the other side of Eriks big aluboat.
the "40 Pilot Salon."
i lost his mail adr, 4 years ago, but now i have it again, and will contact him.-

True and Quiberon is much the same. However, in between France has some superb little marinas like Piriac to make up for it.

Re: Brittany Coast and Normandy

When leaving Camaret northbound, I time my departure to be at Pointe Saint-Mathieu at low tide, to sail with the flow for the longest possible time.

Pete7, when you write "Quiberon", I suppose you mean "Port Haliguen". Yes, it is ugly and big. But at least, it is built onshore, not in the middle of a bay like Pornichet. The problem is, there are so many yacht owners wanting a berth in south Brittany!

Re: Brittany Coast and Normandy

We stayed in the new man made Pornichet, and just for the nigth, and it was OK, and payed 21euros for a cat,
found som intresting info on the Marinetraffic.com aboaut the trip. as they log speed,
Maxs was 12.8 knots and avg, was 9.3. not bad with all that current against.

CAREKA - 0 - Vessel's Details and Current Position

and the fist we did was the worst, 15knots of wind against us and current with us. some big waves tured up and they came very fats to. but we went up along with them, and turn over to cross. so it was done in 15min time. and it got better.
