Clearing in, Korfu

Hi all,

We are on our way from Montenegro to Korfu. We would like to moor in Gouvia, however the guides say it is not possible to clear in there for a non-EU boat. It seems we have to go to Kerkyra first. Any idea how to moor/anchor there or is there a customs pier we could use ?

Regards,

-Richard (SV Tanuki)

Re: Clearing in, Korfu

Maybe PM goboatingnow...? He's based in Greece and has been cruising there for some time. He seems to know a lot of the ins-and-outs for that part of the world.

Good luck, Topspin!

(Seems he hasn't been on CF since April 8th, so he may be on passage - but you could give him a try.)

Re: Clearing in, Korfu

Thank you LittleWing,

I found out in the meantime, that it may be possible to moor there and then catch the Bus to Kerkyra to do the paperwork.....
Sent an Email to marina Gouvia yesterday, but no reaction....

Regards,

-Richard

Re: Clearing in, Korfu

I PM'd Boatie (Boatman61) and here's what he had to say (he's a bit busy right now - in a flurry of deliveries, since it's delivery season right now, as you know). Anyway, here's what he had to say:

Last time I cleared into Corfu I went straight into the marina and did it all there.

It was a Brit catamaran and we were still part of the EU back then, but I would imagine its pretty standard for pleasure yachts.

They do tend to be more official however. Going through the Corinth requires full documentation as does going past the bridge at Chalcis, tie up and trek all documents to Customs.

As you can see, that was his experience in recent years and with a British-flagged yacht, but hopefully that will still be the case and his info will be helpful to you in the right-now.

Fair winds, Topspin!
Warmly,
LittleWing77

I had a berth reserved by the owner of the boat, called the marina on VHF when approaching entrance and they sent someone to assist with docklines then it was take all documentation/passports to the marina office where they dealt with everything.. only the Skipper is allowed off the boat till cleared in.
Port police are nearby.
Anchored in the bay round the corner the night before around midnight prior to heading in.

Re: Clearing in, Korfu

Thanks,

we intend to anchor on the north side of Korfu the night before and berth the next day in the morning. Hope that works for an Aussie boat as well......

Regards,

-Richard

I anchored in the bay you can see to the S behind the marina, it gives protection from N, NW and S'ly winds, good holding in sand.

Give Gouvia a call , they can generally facilitate check in., don’t turn up unannounced
