Very pleased to report that the gelcoat work has just been completed on our catamaran and we are delighted with the work done. It took a little longer than anticipated as the technical team could only work on the boat when my wife wasn't there as fumes from the gelcoat cause her severe breathing problems.

In the early stages there were problems with the quality of the products used, but the staff at the marina persevered and even brought in a gelcoat specialist to look at the work that needed to be done.

The non-slip surfaces were applied earlier in the year at KGM so the topsides of our boat are now brilliant white. We know two other yacht owners here who were waiting to see the final results and we are happy to recommend that they have the work done here.

Hi Dale,

The point is that it was due to many factors
1. The batch that they were using was not good

2. Claire had to be away from the yacht each time due to her allergies

The work may have taken a little longer than planned but it is all up to specifications now and as said before WE are happy and really that is all that matters.

We are in our second year at KGM and I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and efficient. eg I needed a LPG tank refilled -in less than 48 hours it was collected, refilled and returned to the boat. No sooner do I report a problem with the wi-fi or cable TV, than I am informed in person when the systems are back on. No laundry tokens when I asked at Reception - half an hour later they were delivered to the boat. The staff greet us with a huge smile and say ' We are happy when you are happy'. A very warm welcome from the lady in Reception - someone I consider to be a most important person in any organisation.

Hi , nice to see you are settled and happy altho the sales pitch aint quite working.
I have to redo all the gelcoat for Footprints , low priority tho....
Hows the weather treating you there - is it sheltered enuff ?
We ship in 29th dec. : the whole family , hired a car , so getting to Latchi is easy......

What has your problem with gelcoat got to do with KGM? Are you going to get it done in KGM?

(We are just stating what and how things happened).

The weather pattern is going all through the eastern Med so it hits the whole of Cyprus-Rain, strong winds and the odd thunderstorm.

As crew on the EMYR 2012 Rally which visited Karpaz Gate Marina in May I also have first hand experience of their friendliness and efficiency.

I also know the marina in Larnaca and the harbour at Latchi and neither can offer the same technical services. I use Paphos as just a place for a stopover to stock up at the supermarket.

I have seen 'Footprints' at Latchi - a Dean catamaran with blue sail covers that was originally on the breakwater wall, the next time on a hammerhead and then finally on the hard when I used to take crew to Crystal Streams to do their RYA courses.

Out of choice I use Kos Marina for any 'technical work' on my boats, but most times I make do with whatever is available depending on where the boat is at the time
