Mediterranean Itinarary

Hi all, I will be sailing from le Canet en Rousillon south of France to Albania this summer and I am looking for suggestions for my itinerary. What are your thoughts ?

Cheers

Re: Mediterranean Itinarary

I am not sure what to type of cruising you prefer and how much land and ports.
I'd stop in Porquerolles and the Lerins on the way.
Then I'd cross to Spezia for a train up to the cinque terre, Port Mirabello transits are about 150/night. Unless you like urban visits in which case you should look at Genoa and Camogli(can train from Genoa) really worth a visit.

The Liguria coast from Spezia by train is the most viable way to see the other cities of fame between Santa Margherita and Rio Maggiore.
In La Spezia Portovenere, Lerici, Tellaro, but again it's for the land, otherwise keep on sailing stopping where you need to. There are ports all the way down the west coast.
Elba is a must - do
If time the whole Tuscan archipelago
Isole Eolie are must - do
Napoli - Procida
If time the whole flegree islands
Amalfi Coast
Time for going full round Sicily?
Can you get as far south as Pantelleria? Then do so!
But then go to Malta!

I don't know the east coast but am told Isole Tremite.
Up from there I've sailed the lagoon. Not Venice proper as it's impossible without the permits but Chioggia is a lovely town. Ravenna to Chioggia I've heard is a nice sail and then you are over to Istria unless you stop in Trieste.
I know only split but I think I could spend a year between Reka and Dubrovnik.
Check customs and transit rules very carefully.

This should give you some ideas but it's just a list without knowing what boat what crew and what ambitions time and budget. Are you looking for Marina recommendations, sailing recs or cityscape recs? Etc etc.
Enjoy!

Silly me. Proud Italian national I just assumed you were going to tour Italy. And with pride I started rambling.
I just realised rereading your post that you probably are looking for itinerary advice Roussillon to Albania.
Sorry about that!!

Not the OP, but I appreciate your recommendations as I am hoping to be sailing in that area sometime in the next 2-3 years. Never been to Italy and am itching to get there, but figure we'll wait until we can do it long-term on a boat. I'm checking out Google Earth right now so your post was not in vain!

I am forced to leave the EU to complete the sale of the vessel and Albania was suggested as we have approx. 2.5 months to passage there and back to the south of France, but i am open to suggestions.

Re: Mediterranean Itinarary

Greetings from Vinca. Did you get my "PM"?
Sadly nothing to help, my bareboat charters from Canet have taken me to Banyules in one directions and Cap d'Agde in the other.
Most of my sailing has been done around the Ionian Islands, Greece from Lefkada......
