You might also like to check the age of the engine.

Quite often they would pull an engine out of a boat being scrapped and use that in a new boat.

It could be that the engine is considerably older than the boat.

In Vietnam they still put old US army truck engines from trucks left behind after the American/Vietnam war into new boats!
