Porto Turistico Roma

Hi All,

Can anyone comment on the suitability of Porto Turistico Roma as a suitable marina to overwinter please?

I have done a search of this web site and found a couple of favourable comments but they are a few years old, I would like to see if anyone has any more up to date information. I also saw a comment about surge in the marina on Noonsite but that dated back to 2005 and I know the breakwaters have been improved since then.

Any information would be appreciated

Cheers
Brownie

very sad place to stay on the boat during winter. Better to put the boat on the hard e.g. at Tecnomar and rent a room in Roma !

Brownie, why dont you consider leaving your boat in Sardinia much nicer and safer there

Re: Porto Turistico Roma

Hello,
Two years ago we passed by in Porto Roma. The place is quite safe, and we met an american couple who spend there the winter. But the town next door, Ostia is not very nice. On the other hand Rome is close with the metro.
We wintered in Sardinia in Palau (very cheap and pleasant).

Re: Porto Turistico Roma

Thanks for the input guys, I hadn't considered Sardinia, I will do some more research starting with Palau. It was our original plan to winter in Greece or Croatia, but we have a lazy cruising habit of late!!

brownie what i would also add to this is now is the time to reserve or book your winter berth as a lot of yachties who spent last yr in one part of the med and sailed on will be looking for there new berth have met about 30 to 40 other yachties who wintered in turkey last yr and are now heading to the Ionian area for winter

another good spot for your boat in greece would be on the Island of Aegina at K&G med marinas (Planco ship yard )

Hi Beneteau,

Thanks for the heads up on the boats heading for the Ionian. Yes I am aware that I need to make a decision!!
