The Classic Malts Cruise

We're planning to do the Caledonian Canal in Scotland in the summer of 2009 (that's why we're staying north for the winter). Has anyone participated in the Classic Malts Cruise? If so, what did you think of it? Is it worth the entry fee? How much is the entry fee anyway? I don't see the entry fee on their site. We're considering whether to time our voyage so that we arrive on the west coast of Scotland in time for this event.

Thanks for your input.

Hi Shirlee,

I see you have not received any reply to your question. You may want to post it on the UK site (more single malt drinkers): Yachting and Boating World forums: Viewing forum: Liveaboard Link

Three parties and introductions to the other boats in the rally. But your point is well taken. We aren't willing to pay much for that and don't know what else they offer. Hence, the question.

Thanks for the link, Jim. I wasn't aware of this site, and I'll check it out.

in that case keep in touch and we will make a date to meet up and have a party.
i would advise that you seek out the yacht clubs as they have cheper morings and a club house where you will meet the locals and can get great info and make new friends.
also the reeds almanack is most usefull in finding the best up to date info and tides.
we expect to be entering the cannal towards the end of june.

Good advice. Our copy of Reed's Almanac is well-worn from our passage through the English Channel along France and on to Belgium and the Netherlands.

We won't make it to the canal before sometime in July. We're planning to visit Norway to reset our VAT clock first.
