Yes, I could have left the boat in the water in Finland. Unbelievable "winter" this year. But the boat IS in the water, and in Denmark. So I am sailing from time to time, but not in THAT.

Yep. February in the North Sea is no joke. But people do sail in the North Sea in February. There is a great video on Youtube of that funny Norwegian guy crossing the North Sea single handed in a little tub, in February. No Bull**** Just Sailing I think his channel is called.

Re: The North Sea tomorrow!

I love this guy's videos -- the only sailing channel I watch regularly. I won't comment however on his seamanship (running downwind in a gale with no preventer), watchkeeping practices, safety practices (on the foredeck in a gale with no tether, not even holding on because he's holding a GoPro in one hand ). But the guy has a big pair, and does really interesting sailing.

Re: The North Sea tomorrow!

This is the North Sea early March sailing from the west coast of Scotland to the Netherlands.

Seaworthy Lass does not look too perturbed, but she is hanging on to her hat .

Currently we are anchored in Scotland and storm Ciara has been “yucky” rather than severe so far. Storm Brendan was significantly worse, as were a few storms in the Hebrides last year.

The weather models seem to be all over the place, but I think the next few days will be worse and this is likely to persist for a week or more. Stay safe everyone.

Re: The North Sea tomorrow!

This storm was really powerful even in Sweden. I even felt in on the east coast (Baltic regions). Some marinas had problems in the southern parts..
