Re: Winter in Italy, Malta, Tunisia . . . ?

Guys,
Please be aware the world has changed somewhat since this thread started.
Lampedussa for instance is currently experiencing rioting with churches being burned etc.
Im sure you know what im talking about. Do your own research and make sure you dont end up being involved or even the cause of trouble because the elements involved are radical, extreemist and volatile.

Be aware, be safe.

most refugees will do any thing to survive! why can't they just lie down and die quietly like the sudanese or eritreans, this is really not good for tourism.........

Its not good for a safe and happy life. I would suggest that many parts of the eastern med are a big risk to be cruising in for infadels

Re: Winter in Italy, Malta, Tunisia . . . ?

I am refering to the headline only, I did not read all the previous posts:

The disadvantage of wintering in Italy is that it is by law not allowed to work on the boat on land and to live on the boat on land, although some marinas tolerate it.
It is said that it has something to do with insurance, accidents that have happened.
I have stayed in Aquileia over last winter and I have seen people working on the boat, asked why they told me that they are in the marina for a long time already. As I wanted to to the same they refused.
I have learnt from German sailing forums that at Sibari they allow it. The disadvantage of Sibari is that you never know when the the canal is digged out the next year, sometimes in June only.
