Winter sailing conditions in the Med

Anyone who is contemplating sailing the Med in winter should first see the videos in this article in Gcaptain.

Cargo Ship Bashes Against Seawall, Sinks [VIDEO] | gCaptain

Anyone who wants to carry guns on board should read why the ship met its end.

I think we in the med are in for a bad winter this yr normally we get the odd snow in feb but have already had snow on Mt Zeus Naxos and there is a good you tube video of the Ferry Blue star Ithaki between Tinos and Mykonos where the bow just disappears and if any one knows and have seen the blue star ferry's they are not small ships

Re: Winter sailing conditions in the Med

It's pretty rough here in Crete at the moment. Winter weather is unpredictable but it is possible to continue sailing as long as you are not in a hurry and are prepared to wait for appropriate weather. Many people head for a marina in October and don't come out until May. This year we cruised until our arrival on Crete last week and will leave our winter anchorage in March. Autumn and spring months are lovely sailing weather, the town quays are quiet and bays are usually empty. You do have to keep a careful eye on the weather though.
