Yacht Missing - 'Swan of Zwijn'

Yacht "Swan of Zwijn" and Captain Ward left Alicante, Spain on the 9th of October destined for Karpaz Gate Marina in Northern Cyprus. "Swan of Zwijn" has not arrived, is overdue, and presumed missing.

The sailing yacht is 33ft LOA and a former charter yacht. It is white in colour and the prominent feature is a new large solar panel mounted on a stainless steel frame over the cockpit.

Captain Ward's family has alerted the authorities that he is missing, overdue on his arrival at Karpaz, and has not contacted them.

If you have any information regarding this yacht or Captain Ward, please contact cristiana@karpazbay.com who is in touch with the family of Captain Ward.

Several of the Volvo boats were severely damaged heading out of the Med on the first leg of the VOR.

The current bad weather could mean he's sensibly holed up somewhere en-route.

From the link to past discussions, its clear the boats seen bigger oceans before and come through ok. Let's all hope he's safe.

Cheers

what, he is sort of robinson crusoe or tom hanks fedex man in that castaway movie. this days even in albania you could get phone from somewhere to give a call. or maybe for change, he decided to be runaway instead.

Re: Yacht Missing - 'Swan of Zwijn'

"Swan of Zwijn" arrived in Northern Cyprus at Girne. As far as we know, all is well. He has contacted Karpaz Gate Marina and is expected in a few days.

Missing reports are are filed 9 out of 10 times because relatives have the wrong expectations.
