2nd tier charter in caribbean

Hi,
I would appreciate any recommendations of 2nd tier charter in caribbean, to charter a monohull. I want to find a more affordable option than 4-5k weekly.
I am totally find to chartering an older boat as long as it is in working order.

Thank you,
B

Any of the islands with first-tier charter companies will have other options, so you should narrow down the area as the Caribbean is a very big place with lots of countries/islands to choose from.
The BVI and USVI have several reputable companies with "experienced" charter boats.

We chartered once with Captain's Compass in Tortola. Lower prices. The Beneteau we got was not in great shape though, but we still had a good time.

Re: 2nd tier charter in caribbean

We chartered one from Conch Charters (BVIS like Captain's Compass). As mentioned, not much in the way of luxuries will work (or work the whole trip). Our boat didn't have working fuel gauges (if you call fuel gauges are "luxuries"). But the boat worked and we were able to safely sail around the BVIs, including cooking on the boat. Don't expect the dingy motor to work well. Don't expect a gen set to work well. Don't expect AC to work well. Don't expect the chart plotter to work. etc.

If you have the right mindset going in you'll enjoy your trip, save a little money and make some memories. You may also be pleasantly surprised that most things on the boat work.
