Anchoring: Card Sound - Western Shore

Has anyone anchored in this area, specifically, the western shore directly opposite Pumpkin Key? There's going to be a (very unusual) W wind as we're sailing down to the Keys on Wednesday (tomorrow, 26 May), we probably won't get there in time to get a spot in the lee of Pumpkin Key. The charts indicate a rocky bottom of sufficient depth, but I've never seen anyone anchored there, and I'm just wondering why. thanks, pete

Update:Card Sound W Shore anchoring

Since no one else appears to have ever been there... It was one of the best anchorages I've had in this part of FL. The wind was predicted to swing around during the night, luckily I had PLENTY of room to swing and put out about 100 feet of rode in 7 feet of water (plus 4 feet to the bow). Nice sandy bottom interspersed with a few rocks and some grass. Not a single other boat came by the entire night. No protection here from wind or waves under normal (easterly) conditions, but if the wind is N or W (or light and variable), it's a good anchorage. pete
