Re: Annapolis => Newport - Cruise (Not Race) - Best Route ?

Any thoughts on whether Atlantic City is worth a stop mid-way? I'd rather go straight through, but crew seems to favor a mid-way rest up. (really though, how restful could AC be?).

Re: Annapolis => Newport - Cruise (Not Race) - Best Route ?

My personal preference is that if the goal is to deliver the boat, just go. Going in and out of Atlantic city is both a lot of time and significant additional expense. But if your crew is taking this as a leisure trip, then things are different.
We left Annapolis, anchored before the C&D then went into Cape May for a few hours to fuel up etc without having to pay for dockge, then left Cape May at 10 pm and were in Brooklyb at a yacht club by 5pm. Our destination was Huntington, so we wend inside.
During another delivery of my own boat, I again went inside because I was recovering from some treatment, was practically single-handing and needed the rest.

Of course all these decisions depend very much on weather !

Cape May would be a better stopover. You won't lose you money there either. Stay at Utsches

Or, if you don't fit under the bridge at Cape May, anchor inside the breakwaters at Cape Henlopen.

Frankly I would keep going. Northbound I don't stop. Southbound we anchor to wait for the currents.
