Any Cheap Moorings in Florida or Dominican Republic ?

The U.S. marinas have inflated the cost of slips so high, it doesn't make sense to visit there anymore. Any suggestions? For six years, I lived aboard at anchor in SF Bay, then I paid $89.00 per month for a municipal mooring and now I pay $200.00 per month in Panama. I don't agree with $500.00 plus fees for a small 43 foot deep draft sailing boat.

Teacup> Thank you in advance, cruisers.

3 or 4 years ago the mooring balls in Luperon were US$25 a month. They are all private so you have to find and negotiate with the owner. There are normally plenty of places to anchor and once your anchor gets deep set in the mud, it is difficult to leave - things are very economical and there is a significant ex-pat community there.

well you definitely wouldn't want to moor up in Alimos marina in Athens Greece as there they charge charter yachts 195 euros per month then they slug the poor old private Yacht owner 795 euros per and now sadly the Greeks are driving the cursing Yachters away with there hi costs
