Atlantic Hurricane Forecast

ATLANTIC BASIN SEASONAL HURRICANE FORECAST FOR 2007
(issued April 3, 2007) ~ by By Philip J. Klotzbach and William M. Gray
Department of Atmospheric Science, Colorado State University

We have increased our forecast for the 2007 hurricane season, largely due to the rapid dissipation of El Niño conditions. We are now calling for a very active hurricane season. Landfall probabilities for the 2007 hurricane season are well above their long-period averages.

See The Forecast: http://typhoon.atmos.colostate.edu/F...07/apr2007.pdf

U.S. government forecasters plan to release their prediction in late May.

Weatherman like politicians, the second they open thier mouths the lies fly....Just kidding.

Is this going to be another record year like last year??? I understand that predicting wx is an art with a bit of luck and science thrown. I hope it is more like last year with less landfalls.

We have increased our forecast for the 2007 hurricane season . . .

Gord,

Your input to this forum is one of the main reasons why I check in so often. It is one of those steady things that can often go without the appreciation it deserves.

What I'm getting at here is not about the coming hurricane season. It's about your regular input of links to very relevant information that are very useful to cruising sailors. Whether it be in the form presented today - at the introduction of a thread - or when it is presented in the middle of a back and forth - you present relevant information in a way that is not draped with biases - just as something to chew on.

Thank you.

DItto for me... One of the main things that attracted me to the forum in the first place. Thanks!

It'll be a bad hurricane season, unless it isn't. Either way, it's because of global warming.

Down here in Miami we take these things pretty seriously - last year an old cuban came down the dock when a few of us were discussing the upcoming hurricane season and told us to relax there were not going to be any hurricanes that year --
like Gray and company - this year i saw him before Gray came out and he advised that this year is going to be bad year -- how does he know and is he right who knows - he is just an old cuban sea captain --
so button down the hatches and if it does not happen we party if it does we have been warned
but with luck i am heading north
