Re: Belize

What sort of search did you do? These were the first two links on the first Google page for "belize long term residency"

They seems to cover it fairly well:

Re: Belize

Bob,

There are a few options for residency in Belize (retirement, investment, work permit, buying a passport ...). I assume you are interested in retirement residency?

If so, the QRP residency program is run by BelTraide. It is best to contact them directly for the most recent requirements (consistency is not Belize's strong suite and everything is subject to change w/out notice). A phone call will likely be more effective than an email. Link to their web site and a summary of the QRP program below.

Basically you need proof of income and a clean police report.

There is no cost of the program per se, but it will take time to complete (getting anything done in Belize is a PITA, I would plan on 1 year), during which you will have to pay for visa extensions etc.

A BIG advantage of the QRP is that you can bring your boat in under the program duty free (normally 36% of valuation!), but it can't be used for commercial purposes and there are restrictions on timing of resale. The QRP also duty exempts many other personal property items.

I've used Think Belize as an agent for various things in the past and been pleased with their services, but have not used them recently.

The QRP is also the least hassle option (though it is still Belize, so there will be hassles, just less than the other options).

International Living, and similar organizations, are just thinly veiled sales & marketing operations. Dont go to them for valid info any more than you would an infomercial.
