Best place to find a boat to the Caribbeans from Mexico?

Hi!

I'm in Isla Mujeres now, looking to sail towards the Caribbeans. I visited 6 or 7 marinas, since 4 or 5 days ago, talked to many people, advertized on the daily morning radio broadcast, but didn't find any boats sailing now towards the Caribbeans. Most of them are staying here, some of them going back to the US.

Am I in the wrong place to look for a ride to the Caribbeans? Should I go more South (Cozumel? Chetumal? or even Belize?) to find a ride?

This time of year the wind is very strong. Its called the Christmas winds in the Eastern Caribbean. A time to avoid travel.
