Best solution for data/basic comms in Bahamas?

Hi! We will cruise the Bahamas for 3-6 weeks in Feb/Mar '21 and are wondering what's currently the best solution for data/messaging. Key questions:

1. Cell or satellite? Is 'cellular' data regularly available/in-range, or is a satellite phone a necessity?

2. If cellular data is available, can I just pre-purchase a few gigs from Verizon, the way I do for Europe? (We never do those $5/day or $10/day plans.) Or is it necessary to get a local SIM card / 'burner' phone / my-fi unit?

3. If satellite's the way to go, with which hardware and plans have you had success? (We currently have no satellite comms.)

4. What's the biggest limitation, the availability of a connection, the speed of the available connections, or the cost of purchasing data? In other words ... I don't mind pre-paying for data, but I don't want to pre-pay for something that will be crazy-slow or that I won't be able to access at all.
