BVI Update?

We considering a last minute Moorings charter in January and February. Anyone in the area care to comment on what life for a cruiser is currently like? What’s up on Anegada?

Re: BVI Update?

You will see lots of destruction and lots of reconstruction. You will be welcomed and thanked for your business. The sailing will be great. Bars and restaurants are opening. It will be a truly unique experience and one that I bet you will remember fondly, but it won't be "as usual".

Anegada is doing very well, thank you. Plan for a couple of days there. Don't plan on much in the North Sound or Marina Cay areas.

Best of luck. But, do it.

Re: BVI Update?

In early December, we were one of only two visiting boats at Anegada for 2 nights. It was similarly quiet throughout the BVI and St John. I'm sure there will be some pickup in number of boats by January and February, but nowhere near past high seasons (or perhaps even July-August low seasons). Enjoy it while it lasts. I'm returning for 11 days in January and 2 weeks in February.

See this -> https://catamaranguru.com/lifestyle/...mber-30th-2017

I just returned yesterday. The boat traffic started to pick up the last couple of days of our trip. On Tuesday night there were 15+ boats in Great Harbor on Jost. Pirates at Norman is now open. We stopped at Leverick in North Sound and although the lower restaurant is open it is a major construction site. Other than not being able to readily get ice and other supplies anywhere other than on Tortola our trip was pretty much as we've always done.

Nice...thank you for posting.

Now I'm thinking we should go back to the BVIs this year instead of the Grenadines.

I first started sailing the BVIs in the mid 80s. I think it would be nice for my lady to have a glimpse of how things used to be without the crowds.
