You can drop the hook outrside the mooring fields or if there is a large enough spot inside of it. Landing a dink may be a problem... SYC is quite friendly and I suspect other yacht clubs might allow a limited dinghy tie up. CI is an interesting stop with one main street, a interesting museum and eats, shopping and supplies. The anchorages are rolly however.
