Clear out in Barbuda allowed (again)

Vessels can now clear out in Codrington, Barbuda as of yesterday 7/May/2013

A memo on the door of the Jolly Harbour Customs office:
From Comptroller of Customs
Ref CED 22/2
March 1 2013
"Vessels can NOT clear in or out of Barbuda... they can clear out in Antigua and go to Barbuda as long as the leave within 24 hours."

As I made a note of the above the Customs Officer said that it had changed yesterday and though you can NOT clear in in Barbuda you can now clear out.

When in Barbuda ring 460 0085 or 725 7933 and ask to clear out at the office in Codrington.

The difficulty with this is, of course, that one needs an phone and coverage of the Spannish Point to Coco Point area is zero...

I would ring from Antigua and check...

Mark

Don't you just love the disjointed bureaucracy of the islands.

Re: Clear out in Barbuda allowed (again)

Hello Mark - I'm anchored off Green Island on Antigua right now and with your note I think I'll head straight up to Barbuda and clear out there rather than head in to English Harbour tomorrow in order to clear out.

I wish more islands would follow Dominica and allow more time between clearing out and actually departing.
