Re: Great Resource on Understanding The Gulf Stream

As someone without any blue water experience, that makes crossing the Gulf Stream sound terrifying.

Re: Great Resource on Understanding The Gulf Stream

So, to apply this to the current storm's impact, we can expect intense conditions along most of this section of the gulf stream as the wind will be opposing the current. If my approximation of the gulf stream is accurate, there may be a small area with some perpendicular flow just after the Gulf Stream turns offshore. The article isn't too clear about what the effect of that perpendicular flow would be, aside from "Down Wind Gustiness". Can anyone explain that further?

Re: Great Resource on Understanding The Gulf Stream

Not a fan of ideas that can be put in a nutshell but my rule for myself is I never go unless all the conditions are in my favor.

Perhaps that comes from four months in the Bering Sea. Or it comes from a desire to live. Or it comes from a healthy respect for what I don't know.
