Hitching a ride from Barbados to Saint Vincent

Hi all,

New here, so not sure if I'm posting this in the right place.

Long story short, I'm traveling from Europe to the Caribbean to participate in my brother's wedding in December. Due to financial circumstances, I'm a bit late with the planning and plane tickets are insanely expensive.

However, I've managed to find a cheap flight from Copenhagen to Barbados and back, but I'll still need to get from Barbados to Saint Vincent - preferably on December 19th, 20th or 21st.

Does anyone here know if it's possible to hitch a 'ride' with someone sailing from Barbados, or should I give up the idea and see if there are other alternatives?

I appreciate any help or advice!

Barbados isn't a particularly big cruiser destination and not too many sailboats go there. LIAT is about $200 for the 40-minute flight, though.

Thanks! Unfortunately the flight from Barbados to Saint Vincent is already sold out - that's why I'm looking into the option of sailing

How about LIAT via Antigua? Will they charge extra for that? LIAT is my least-favorite airline in the world, so I'd be searching for alternatives. I looked at noonsite for the clearance procedures and rules, since I'm in St. Lucia right now; but they really don't cater to mere sailors, just mega yachts and cruise ships. It is not surprising that few sailors fight the winds and waves to get there!

Here's a thought - look at Marinetraffic and see which private boats are there now (very few compared to elsewhere) and some of them might have websites or blogs and you can reach out to them. Even if they aren't heading in that direction in your time frame, they might have local knowledge and be able to make suggestions.
