Re: Ice reports - Hampton, Norfolk area?

There's ice around my boat now, but when I got on it the ice was pushed away it's so thin.

Temps are to be in the mid 40's starting tomorrow with lows right at 32 degrees. Thursday and Friday high 50's low 60's!

Hoping the high temps Friday finally thaw things. Looking forward to heading south from Annapolis asap.

This was taken yesterday on the Eastern Side of the Bay about 70 miles North.

Reports from my marina in Hampton are that we are free of ice. Looking at the forecast, I should say free of ice - for now. Looks like several days of below freezing starting Saturday night. Wow. What temperature swings.

Yeah, the mid-Atlantic freeze/thaw cycles are murder on bedding and caulking. Your thread's got me groaning, I forgot several cans of soup in a drawer, on the hard in Southern Maryland. Looks like I'll be down there cleaning up the mess tomorrow.

It is supposed to go from about 70 F (right now is 68) to 20 F in the next 36 hours. That is a pretty impressive temperature swing if it happens. We see that all the time here in Colorado - 60 during the day to 20 at night in the winter - but for Virginia - that is amazing.

Yeah, the Sun popped through the clouds for an hour or so yesterday afternoon before the rain came and it was HOT!

Jackets, long underwear, etc were being peeled off left and right.

Today will be the opposite.........with 3"-5" of snow predicted for Wednesday.

The good news is the rain and warmth cleaned the boats of pretty good.

I was able to change the lower unit gear oil in my outboard, remount it on the boat temporarily and run it for a while. I'll probably pull it later today though and put it back on the stern railing. My main auxiliary engine is a 5 hp 4 stroke outboard.

Things are pretty well thawed here in Annapolis. Going to leave Sunday AM for Solomon’s , hoping that we don’t wake up to new ice.

Ice reports - Hampton, Norfolk area?

We are way South of you guys, no ice.
But I’m still waiting til next week to go, long range forecast has the week beginning the 21st as being very warm.
This week is going to still be cold.
Then comes February, which is often the coldest month
